Counsellor Role (Self-Funded / Supported)
The Red Sea Counselling and Member Care Centre is seeking applications for the role of Counsellor. The candidate will need to have significant and relevant cross cultural mission experience, tertiary qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution (Bachelor’s degree minimum) in either counselling, psychology, or social work with membership in a relevant professional association (PACFA, Australian Association of Christian Counsellors etc.) and have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in a private clinical setting.
The Red Sea Counselling and Member Care Centre exists to support Christian cross-cultural workers (past and present) through the provision of counselling, member care and training. We desire to see people equipped with the tools and skills to lead resilient lives and to carry out their calling and ministries, fruitfully and joyfully. The centre is located in Cairns, Australia.
The appointed counsellor will provide quality counselling to current and past Christian cross-cultural workers and be able to work with a broad range of people of different cultural backgrounds. Clients may present with a range of different concerns, including grief and loss, re-entry struggles, burnout, identity issues, anxiety and depression etc. Previous experience of working with clients who have experienced trauma is desirable. Ideally, as an ‘unpaid employee’ (self-funded / supported), the applicant will be a member of, or be willing to become a member of, a recognised Christian Mission sending organisation which has or is willing to have a secondment agreement / MOU with The Red Sea. The applicant will be responsible, with the support of their sending agency, for raising their own financial and prayer support for this role.
